How does WVU's recruiting class stack up? by CFS

By Couch Fire Sports

I’m happy with the 26th ranked recruiting class (per Scout.com).

Extremely happy.

Sure there have been better and there have been worse, but having followed recruiting more than the average dude and having seen highlight after highlight video of each and every one of these guys… I’m extremely happy.

We tapped into the uber strong states of Texas and Florida… perhaps more than we’ve ever done in the past.  We’ve also maintained the close ties in neighboring areas in what Coach Holgs described as “Taking care of home first.”

Mountaineer Athletic Club members and a guest were treated tonight at the Erickson Alumni Center to a great evening of food and drinks capped with a very nice video of each and every recruit that signed a letter of intent today.

And it was impressive.

Holgs was sure to give credit to each and every assistant coach who is out on the road recruiting, and perhaps nobody made more of an impact than Coach Gillespie.

And it didn’t hurt that we had 70-33 to throw in the face of recruits either.

But the fact remains that we will be entering the Big 12 next season (at least per Ollie tonight), and we will certainly have our work cut out for us, but recruiting will no doubt take a bump up as well.

But we want to know what you think!

How do you feel about this season’s signees?

Casteel Gone....Stewart in!

By Couch Fire Sports

CFS brought you the news that Jeff Casteel would be brought to Arizona to lead Rich Rod’s defense.

That comes true today.

In fact, it was posted on the Arizona website last night, although dated for today.  Probably not the way it was supposed to go down, but an official “leak” wouldn’t be out of reach for the same team that announced Rodriguez’ hiring via Twitter.

WVU blows 10 point lead at UCONN..... By CFS

By Couch Fire Sports

It could have been that Kilicli had four fouls and rode the bench a good part of the latter 2nd half. It might have been the delayed timeout as Huggs awaited the imminent TV timeout while Kilicli sat with a towel around his neck.

Either way, WVU gave up a 10 point lead in a game that was seemingly in its favor, falling to the Huskies last night on Big Monday, 64-57.

Did the BCS actually work this year......?

OK..... before you start screaming about Alabama and LSU, let's look at the bigger picture. 3 of the 5 BCS bowls were very close, with a deciding factor of less than a touchdown. The two games that were not close were WVU and Clemson..(WVU!!!) and the National Championship which was a field goal marathon and close unitl late in the game.

Pic of the Day

This pretty much sums up the whole night.....
